The Good About CLT Airport
Located in North Carolina, it's only fundamental that one of Charlotte's best food places is at Carolina pit BBQ restaurant Brookwood Farms BBQ (close to Concourse A). You could enjoy a hot barbecue especially the pit-smoked pork ribs and the pulled chicken shoulder, though the grilled fish is popular at the airport. There are other world-class restaurants at Charlotte Douglas International Airport including the 1897 Market (close to Concourses A and B) which is a retail marketplace, takeaway, bar, and sit-down restaurant all enveloped into one. The best burger restaurant at the Charlotte airport is the Bad Daddy's Burger Bar strategically located at Concourse C. It has the sit-down and grab-and-go options. Other meal options at the Charlotte Airport include the Phillips Seafood at Concourse C, the wide variety of sushi at Hissho Sushi at Concourse D and the rich wine variety at Beaudevin characterized by salads, sandwiches and miniature plates.
You won't be able to talk about drinks at the airport without mentioning Carolina Beer company which has an array of beer selection options, brewed either in Charlotte or other regions in North Carolina. What you will find most typical about the Charlotte International Airport are the few airport amenities that you see in few airports, for instance, the outdoor overlook of the airport, which is perched just above the runway, and therefore you can enjoy an interrupted sight of planes taking off and landing. Mother with a newborn, Charlotte Airport offers you a Mother's room placed at the top level of the atrium, which provides privacy for mothers nurse their babies. Additionally, the Terminal Gateway Spa provides you with an extensive Menu of Spa treatments.
The Bad About Charlotte Airport
Like any other airport, the cost of the goods and services provided at the Charlotte Airport are a bit costly. Maybe what you won't like if you are not alcohol or wine fan, is the ready availability of alcohol at the airport. If you are a struggling addict, the setting will be too much tempting. Also, the bites and sips bought at the Airport's premises cannot be carried into the plane.
Other Information About CLT
Since the airport is among the largest hubs in America, it naturally harbors a couple Admirals Club Lounges, with one located at Concourse B and the other located at Concourse C. In addition, if you are a Triplt user you can access data and whereabouts of the Charlotte International Airport's lounges easily thanks to the LoungeBuddy feature.
Interesting CLT History
The Charlotte Municipal Airport was constructed in 1936 after the city received a $200,000 incentive from the Works Progress Administration in 1930. Therefore the airport is managed and operated by the city. In 1979, the Piedmont Airlines preferred Charlotte as its hub to expand its route network. To house the booming rate of growth, a new 30,200 square meters passenger terminal created by Odell Associates was opened in 1982, and the airport changed its name to Charlotte Douglas International Airport. In 1987 and 1984, Concourses B and C were expanded and Concourse A was erected to handle future growth. Plans were laid in 1999 for the erection of a regional carrier (present-day Concourse E).
